Privacy policy
Last updated 10 October 2026
HyperNotch is a Mac app and website made by Loopbreak (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect, what stays on your Mac, and which other companies handle your data. In short: the app keeps your content on your Mac, we run no analytics inside the app, and payments are handled by Polar.
Who we are
HyperNotch is published by Loopbreak. You can reach us at info@loopbreak.io for anything in this policy.
What stays on your Mac
Everything you create or collect with HyperNotch is stored on your Mac, in ~/Library/Application Support/io.loopbreak.HyperNotch. We never receive it and can't see it. That covers:
- clipboard history, including images, and your pinned clips
- notes, to-dos, timers, shortcuts and settings
- files you put on the File Shelf, and screenshots you take with HyperNotch
- text you grab from the screen. Grab Text reads the area you select using Apple's text recognition on your Mac, and nothing is uploaded
- events and reminders. HyperNotch reads them through macOS only after you allow access, and they don't leave your Mac
- the Mirror camera preview, which is never recorded or stored
Clipboard history skips content copied from password managers and anything an app marks as secret. You can pause capture, exclude apps and delete clips at any time.
When the app uses the internet
HyperNotch connects to the internet only for the features below. Like any website or server, each of these services can see your IP address.
| Feature | Service | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| License activation and checks | Polar | Your license key, our organization ID and your Mac's name, so you can tell your Macs apart in the customer portal. The app checks every few days and keeps working offline for up to 30 days. |
| Update checks | hypernotch.app | A standard request for the update feed, which shows your IP address and the app version. We don't turn on Sparkle's system profiling. |
| Weather | Open-Meteo | The city you search for, or the coordinates of the place you pick. If you choose your current location, macOS Location Services finds it, Apple Maps names the place, and the coordinates go to Open-Meteo for the forecast. |
| Stocks | Yahoo Finance | The ticker symbols on your watchlist. |
| Currency conversion | ExchangeRate-API | A request for the latest exchange rates. Nothing about you is included. |
We don't receive the Weather, Stocks or currency requests. We do see your license activations (including your Mac's name) in our Polar dashboard.
Permissions macOS asks for
HyperNotch asks only for what a feature needs, and only when you first use it. You can change each one in System Settings under Privacy & Security.
- Screen Recording for Grab Text and Screenshot. It is used only while you are selecting an area.
- Accessibility to paste into the app you were using. This is optional.
- Camera for Mirror.
- Calendars and Reminders to show your events and reminders.
- Location for Weather. This is optional, and you can search for a city instead.
The website
- Hosting. The site runs on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs such as your IP address, the page you requested and your browser.
- Analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't build a profile of you. It records the page, where you came from, your country and your browser, operating system and device type.
- Checkout cookie. When you start a purchase, the site sets a signed, secure cookie that holds a reference to your checkout for 24 hours. It lets the confirmation page verify that your payment went through. It is strictly necessary and isn't used for tracking.
- We don't use advertising or social media trackers.
Purchases and payments
Polar Software Inc. (“Polar”) is the merchant of record for HyperNotch. Polar sells the license to you, collects payment, handles sales tax and VAT, and issues receipts and refunds. Polar collects your name, email address, billing details and payment details. Card numbers never reach us. Polar's own privacy policy explains how it handles that data.
Polar tells us about your order, including your email address and the status of your license. We use it to deliver your license, answer support requests and process refunds.
How long we keep data
We keep support emails for as long as we need them to help you and to keep a record of your purchase. Order and tax records are kept by Polar as the law requires. Data on your Mac stays there until you delete it. To remove it, delete the app and the Application Support folder above.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it by emailing info@loopbreak.io. For billing and payment data held by Polar, you can use the customer portal or contact Polar. You can deactivate a Mac in the portal at any time.
Children
HyperNotch isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll also say so in the app's release notes.
